Advantages of Fabricating with 380 Aluminum
380 aluminum alloy fabrication is vital for thousands of different products and industries. From electronics, automobiles, aerospace, and healthcare to household appliances, trucking, military defense, and more, every industry benefits from fabricating with aluminum.
APDC exclusively casts with A380 aluminum alloy, one of the most commonly specified aluminum alloys, with significant benefits and capabilities to include:
- The best combination of casting, mechanical, and thermal properties.
- Excellent fluidity, pressure tightness, and resistance to hot cracking.
- Diverse use from electronic equipment case assemblies, engine brackets, gearbox cases, HVAC hardware, to power tools and more.
Because of our expertise in working with 380 aluminum, we’re able to deliver a superior product. And because of its reliability and our maintenance, our downtime is at a minimum, saving you time as well as money.
Our Tried-and-True Fabrication Process
At APDC, our fabrication process begins with high-quality aluminum alloy ingots, which are heated and melted to precise temperatures to make the metal more pliable, or malleable, for the fabrication and manufacturing process.
Cold-chamber die casting is ideal for metals with high melting points like aluminum. In the cold-chamber process, automated ladlers transfer molten aluminum to multi-chamber dies, or molds, which create several precise components at once. Then a hydraulically operated injector, with pressure over 10,000 psi, forces the metal into the die. This procedure minimizes the contact time between the hot metal and the injector components, which extends their operating life.
Extra material is used to force additional metal into the die cavity to compensate for contraction, which takes place during solidification and the cooling process. The components are cooled quickly by water so our highly-trained technicians can handle the component and trim it using presses. After the fabrication process, every component is inspected to ensure APDC’s superior quality.
The steel die is used over and over again during fabrication to create consistent, high-quality products and parts. Whatever your design, our tool and die makers can create durable, precise molds, and dies. They work diligently to ensure the longevity and preciseness of your tool and die.
